BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Behavioral health services is a growing need in our community. See below for a wide array of services we can offer.

ADD/ADHD

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common reasons children are referred for mental health services. Although boys are three to four times more likely than girls to experience ADHD, the disorder affects both boys and girls.

While the condition is most often associated with children, Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD, ADHD) continue into adulthood for many individuals.

Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification is an integrated strategy intended to modify a distinct undesirable repugnant behavior.

Using an integrated method of right or wrong outcomes, a person learns the right set of reactions for any transmitted stimulus. This strategy has various branches that strive to adjust behavior using different operations, which have been developed through years of refinement. Behavior Modification has proven to effectively address issues such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), phobias, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and even autism.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) places focus on a person's present and future circumstances and goals rather than past experiences. In this goal-oriented therapy, the symptoms or issues bringing a person to therapy are typically not targeted.

Instead, a qualified therapist encourages those in treatment to develop a vision of the future and offers support as they determine the skills, resources, and abilities needed to achieve that vision successfully.

Depressive Disorder

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems.

Domestic Violence

Counseling services for domestic violence provide survivors powerful tools to heal and find safety. WRC’s trauma informed counseling services are available to adult, children and teen individuals who were/are in abusive relationships as well as those who experienced domestic violence as children.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several people at the same time.

Personality Disorder

Personality disorders are a group of mental illnesses. They involve long-term patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are unhealthy and inflexible. The behaviors cause serious problems with relationships and work. People with personality disorders have trouble dealing with everyday stresses and problems. They often have stormy relationships with other people. Treatment usually includes talk therapy and sometimes medicine.

Sexual Abuse

Rape and sexual assault are incredibly traumatic and soul-distorting.  It is imperative that crisis intervention take place as early as possible for such acts of interpersonal violence.

Anxiety and Panic Disorders

When panic and anxiety symptoms escalate into anxiety attacks and panic attacks, it may be an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and panic disorder. Anxiety attacks and panic attack symptoms can be treated with medication and psychotherapy.

Bipolar

Bipolar disorder, formerly called manic depression, is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). Although bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition, you can manage your mood swings and other symptoms by following a treatment plan. In most cases, bipolar disorder is treated with medications and psychological counseling (psychotherapy).

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling, also known as biblical counseling and Christian psychology, combines your faith with the principles of psychology to improve your mental health and relationships. More specifically, this therapy approach uses scripture and biblical teachings to help you deal with life’s challenges.

Divorce/Blended Family Issues

Blended Families face their own unique set of quirky challenges, as two distinctly different family dynamics merge, or perhaps more accurately, collide.

There may be some pretty delicate and weighty emotional baggage to handle as families work together throughout the changes.

Family Therapy

Family therapy, also referred to as couple and family therapy, marriage and family therapy, family systems therapy, and family counseling, is a branch of psychology that works with families and couples in intimate relationships to nurture change and development. It tends to view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a common, chronic, and long-lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or behaviors (compulsions) that he or she feels the urge to repeat over and over.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event.

It is natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation. Fear triggers many split-second changes in the body to help defend against danger or to avoid it. This “fight-or-flight” response is a typical reaction meant to protect a person from harm. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSD. People who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened, even when they are not in danger.
